Emmanuel G. Herbosa

A former President and CEO of the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) has joined the company's board as an independent director of the American Association of the Philippines.

Honed by over four decades of solid banking experience, Mr. Herbosa juggled leadership roles in corporate banking, consumer banking, branch banking, and overseas banking in reputable financial institutions such as the Bank of the Philippine Islands and Bank of Commerce, where he served as senior vice president, and executive vice president, respectively. He also assumed the role as a chief operating officer of Ayala Insurance, a bancassurance subsidiary of the Ayala Group.

Before his DBP CEO designation, Mr. Herbosa was the Philippine Guarantee Corporation's president and chief executive officer (PGC). PGC provides guarantees to facilitate the entry of foreign loans into the country for development purposes. Besides his banking profession, he also served in directorial posts at the De La Salle School Boards, De La Salle Brothers Fund, Inc., and P & Gers Fund, Inc.

Mr. Herbosa graduated with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Management Engineering from De La Salle University. He obtained his Master's in Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA.

Mr. Herbosa achieved a historic milestone for DBP, reaching P1 Trillion in Total Assets in 2021, by enhancing its developmental focus in support of embattled MSMEs and increasing exposure to infrastructure, farm-to-market facilities, green energy and affordable, quality housing - notwithstanding the two year pandemic lockdown. DBP is now back among the top ten unibanks, at 8th position, with a stronger financial position.
